In the weeks since the previous report, there has been quite a bit of progress.
On the financial front, a few more mugs have been sold and there have been a few
cash donations (including a couple of large sums). We are now very close to our 1500GBP
initial target, so (if you have not previously "put your hand in your pocket" or
opened the cheque book) now is the time to boost the fund and take us across the
We now have all the track required, the timber for the base modules has been purchased,
a batch of "ballast" is in stock and the buffer stops are "on order". The resin castings
for the platform and loading dock have been cast and are ready for assembly and painting.
Tracklaying will commence before too long but, meanwhile, there has been a great
deal of progress with the major scenic items. Cost constraints have meant that many
of the buildings and larger scenic structures will remain the property of those who
have financed and constructed them but they will be available on loan for the Peterborough
event (and the AGM preview).
Those of you who have been following progress (and watch the messages on www.g3forum.org.uk)
may recall that the track layout of Monkton Priors is identical to a branch terminus
on my own garden line. This was a deliberate feature of the design strategy, since
my own buildings will fit neatly onto the exhibition track when required.
A selection of the buildings can be seen on the Gallery page.
