Report No.1  11 March 2016

Since the AGM, planning for the layout has been gathering pace.

On the construction front, Ken Cottle has received the material for and is working on, construction of the six turnouts required for the station (scenic) area of the layout.

I have been in contact with a supplier of model signals and am discussing the possibility of a signal kit and/or components from which to construct them.

Meanwhile, I have been making further scenic items which can be used on the layout, including a fogman's hut, a coaling stage and the parts for the 13 ft passenger platform (all cast in resin).

Roy is working on a signal box (from a T&M kit), while Ian is beavering away at the base modules and looking into possibilities for the digital control of turnouts and signals.

While funding has not yet reached the levels I had hoped for, we have a balance in the special Track Appeal Fund bank account to purchase all the track required for the scenic section but not much else.

We need to raise at least another 500GBP to complete the project to even a basic level.

The specially-commissioned coffee mugs are still available to purchase (6.75GBP from a Get-together or 8.00GBP by post to UK postcodes ....email  coffee@monktonpriors.gauge3.co.uk for details) and offers of donations of cash and materials are needed.

If every Society member were to donate just 5GBP, we would have enough to complete the layout.

You can download a donation form here and cheques should be made payable to "The Gauge 3 Society" and clearly marked on the reverse "Track Fund Appeal" and sent to

The Gauge 3 Society (Track Fund Appeal), c/o 29 Brentwood Place, Sawyers Hall Lane, Brentwood, CM15 9DN.

Thank you for supporting your Society in this project.
